The Lions Club Celebrate Christmas

Wow, what a Christmas party the LCH celebrated at Tsukiji’s, at Ala Moana Center.
Dinner there will be long remembered. Coordinated by our ex-officio chairperson, Jeanne Liu, whose picture appears below, things that went on during our delicious dinner included PDG Bernard installing Mel Kong as a new member, bad jokes by “yours truly,” our Leo advisors Lions Jeanne Ota and Gayle Pai and President Bill keeping things running smoothly.

As for the food, what was displayed seemed to run for “miles.” There wasn’t a thing that you might want to eat that wasn’t put out for consumption. However, as much as I ate, I even found myself grabbing a chocolate chip cookie on my way out the door! Merry Christmas! Ho, ho, ho, ho!

– Lion Jack Schweigert

Happy Holidays!
The LCH’s Christmas Celebration was held at Tsukiji Restaurant on Monday, December 8. The highlight of the evening was the king crab legs, an assortment of sushi, seafood, hot entrees and “make your own” shaved ice. Members pounded, cracked and poked out the succulent crabmeat then made creative shaved ice with ice cream, azuki, and fruits. Thirty one members and their families enjoyed the delicious feast and merriment.

Lion Jack Schweigert led everyone in singing Christmas Carols, although at times it sounded like he was singing solo! As a bonus, Jack told a few funny and not so funny jokes.
Lion Mel Kong was inducted by PDG Bernard Ho and congratulated by all the members. President Bill Malone recognized PDG Bernard for all of his efforts and club collaboration in projects with the Damien Memorial School LEOs. President Bill presented Lion Hongly Khuy with a check for $250 and recycled eyeglasses for his trip to Cambodia. We wish him a safe and successful trip.
After exchanging Christmas grab bags which included cookies, candies, figurines, and gift cards, Lion Jack led the group in singing “Silent Night” to end the evening. A wonderful evening closed out the year as the members hope for a successful 2015 and our 89th year. Many thanks to Lion Jeanne Liu in selecting the venue and making favors and Lion Donna Tamasese for calculating and recalculating the bill for all the members!

2014 Lion’s Christmas Party Ho, Ho, Ho!!
It was a whole lot of Holiday fun, Lion’s style! The LCH celebrated it’s “Annual 2014 Christmas Party” at Tsukiji’s Restaurant in Ala Moana Center on Monday, December 8th. Lion Jeanne beautifully decorated each table with holiday cheer, including winter ornaments and candy favors. Santa Jack led us all in spirited Christmas caroling. Everyone enjoyed a wonderful display and feast of different foods on the buffet line – such as crab legs, sushi, prime rib, chicken katsu, ramen, ribs, assorted fresh fruit and desserts, just to name a few!
PDG Bernard Ho, presented a brief overview of the history of the Club. One of the highlights of the evening, was the induction of our newest member, Lion Mel Kong, who is sponsored by Past President Kin Ching. We all enjoyed engaging in “Santa’s Grab Bag Exchange,” choosing from an array of colorfully wrapped gifts.

Before the end of the party, President Bill Malone presented a check for $250.00 to Lion Hongly Khuy to use during his next trip to Cambodia. They will leave Hawaii on December 19 and will take recycled eyeglasses and other items to those in need. President Bill also acknowledged and thanked two of our long-standing LCH members for their endearing dedication, hard work and diligence: PDG Bernard Ho and Secretary Donna Tamasese.
Lastly, he told us that he was grateful to all those who were able to attend this festive celebration and wished everyone a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
