40th World Lions Service Day Dinner

The Lions Club of Honolulu and clubs from District 50, Region 4, Zone 1 (Aloha Pono, Chinatown, Kalakaua, Kamehameha & Moanalua) and together with Pali, Waikiki 2000 & Mana Loa-Nimitz had a wonderful evening hosting the 40th World Lions Service Day Dinner at the Empress Restaurant.  Our special guests included groups from Ho`opono Services for the Blind, Palolo Chinese Home, Wounded Warriors Hawaii, Leo Advisors and Leos.  Special Lions guests included District Governor Kelvin Moniz (East Kauai) and 2nd Vice District Governor Blayne Hanagami (Akaka Falls), PDG Ernie Chang and PDG Cecelia Izuo.

After some soothing music from the Royal Hawaiian Glee Club, the event started with a bang, consisting of a Lion Dance with smokeless firecrackers (audience participation time of clapping of hands).  It was followed by a 7 course Chinese dinner and lots of door prizes.  Our guests had an opportunity to share information about their organization and express their thanks.  The evening was full of laughs and fellowship!!

Don’t miss out on the fun…be sure to join us next year for the 41st WLSD!
